The Ars Poetica

He broods over the drying photo sheet,
acutely aware of the imperfections,
the inconsistencies between the printed page
and the vision screaming out to him
from deep within.

Art, he considers,
is perception.
The raging muse can inspire,
but an artist cannot portray
the true form of the flame.

Imperfection, he considers,
is art.

Please tell me what you think

Sorry it took me a while to comment on this...I try to make time a few times a week to comment.

Hmm. The photographer seems to be growing. He's definately evolved into something bigger than he used to be. I like reading about him, though, so keep the poetry coming =P

I think my favorite part of this is the last lines/stanza, and how it connects so well with the beginning. It seems to have circled halfway around--done a 180 (woah, I guess I payed attention in math...lol) and seen that imperfections arent something to be looked down upon, but something to encorperate into everything.

I also like the message. The photographer usually has a pretty good message. Bringing up the question of art, and not exactly pining it down is really interesting. You dont define art within textual bounds, saying its this but not that, but just let it be known that nothing is perfect. I definately like this. It reflects the real world, and I think, reflects on you as a poet, as not being someone with their head stuck up in the clouds, but being more down to earth about these things.

Accepting imperfections will only lead to better art, if you ask me.

No wonder you're such an amazing writer.

    thanks for sharing, great job.

You take all the time you want. Your commenting is so amazing that you could take a year. They make my day, week, month, eternity.

That growth is something I've noticed too. The way he comes out is a lot different. I'm trying to maintain the present tense, since that seems to be a pretty integral part of his voice, but other than that...I'll try anything with him.

It's taken me a long time and a lot of maturation to be able to accept those imperfections and see them for the positives they really can be. The photographer is a convenient vessel for me to project my beliefs about writing and creativity without getting tangled up in complicated prose. I suck at prose. I need my photographer!

(although I have been considering giving him a short story...)

Rora, I love you as always.

Ah, the photographer. Love. x 10.

This is a familiar feeling, in photograpy and life as a whole. It was nice to see it capured so solidly. Kudos. <3
