one mischievous grin,
with a pinch of irreverence
our fun would begin.
Roast beef and potatoes,
pork loin and lamb;
Sunday fare for your family
always tasted so grand.
You defended us fiercely,
like a brave mother bear.
Ready to shelter
us all in your care.
Our children you cherished
and doted upon,
they filled your heart
with laughter and song.
With courage and grace
you faced the unknown,
believing God’s kindness
would carry you home.
Clothed in memories of love
and dressed in your party best,
with broken hearts we say goodbye,
we lay your body to rest.
We miss you so much
we can’t even begin
to express all the sadness
we feel deep within.
We trust in God’s mercy,
in His love and grace.
We know you now rest
in His tender embrace.
Thank you Ma,
our memories of you
will forever warm our hearts.
We’ll always love you
and we’ll see you soon.
Author notes
Grieving is hard work and takes a long time.
There are many stages to loss. Be kind to yourself
and give your body and soul whatever it needs to do this work.

Part of my Mom's eulogy, which I wrote and delivered.
"Held in His Arms", a song I wrote, was based on this poem.
It is featured on my page.
This picture is of my mother with my son Tim, myself, and my Dad.
It was taken at Christmas in 1991.
My son is now 17 years old.
He is her youngest grandchild.

Omggggggg this so reminds me of my Mom!!!! and I'm tearing up!! wow. I remember she'd make this really gross cassarole with lima beans ( what kid likes lima beans) we all hated it, but she put her heart and soul into it...so we ate it. My Moms laugh was amazing, and it was unique, happy and it warmed your heart!!
