The Heroes of Greek Mythology
Jason and the Argonauts
W. Peter Sanci May 2 / 2007
I had a very hard time deciding what topic to pick for this particular poem.
I decided to do Jason, because his character had grown.
I remembered his story, may because it shone.
So here we go. My view of The Ancient Heroes of Greek Mythology.
Jason’s story is one of bravery and needs no apology.
His special quest, was to fetch and deliver The Golden Fleece.
They would have to travel very far away, and they must not cease.
The Fleece was in the Kingdom of a wicked King named Aeetes, in the Kingdom of Medea.
King Aeetes of Medea didn’t like Jason
Right away.
The King considered The Golden Fleece
His private property and didn’t want Jason
to take it away.
Well it so happened that one of King Aeetes
daughters wanted to marry him,
but Jason didn’t feel like being her prey.
Next to the pasture where the Golden Fleece was, there were these “ Fire Breathing Balls,” which made it as light as day.
King Aeetes said to Jason if he could plow the field then he could have The Golden Fleece.
And Jason and his band of men could go in peace.
There happened to be a Sorceress nearby.
She gave a secret balm to Jason which prevented the flames from harming him and so he easily plowed the field and made the old King sigh.
But King Aeetes, had another trick up his old sleeve,
He had these dragon’s teeth, that when you
Planted them in the ground, they grew into fierce warriors, to try to stop poor Jason,
So he could not leave.
But our hero Jason, outwitted these seed men by throwing a stone at the, and they crumbled!
So the King had no choice but to let Jason have The Golden Fleece and he sailed off into the sunset.
Now my friends this is just one of the many
Tales of Greek Mythology available to you.
You should read them all, for they will inspire you to do great deeds as the men of old.
