Summer Love

My window had been opened all night
And I awoke to a familiar smell
The neighbors must have mowed their lawn
I can taste the summer day in my nose

My room is blanketed with the sun's soothing warmth
But the window had let in a relieving breeze
The room feels so alive, it's tangible
I can feel the freshness in my skin

My soul longs for the refreshing splash of summer
I went to the pond to let my feet soak
You were there and pushed me in
I was mad at first, but we eventually let go

Splashing in the secluded pond down the road
Our souls met entwined with nature
Summer was breathing through our lungs
We were getting high on life

We got out of the water and allowed the sun to blanket our skin
Warm and heated, we moved toward each other
Beneath the shade of a willow tree
We connected our spirits

As the sun went down, all became calm
The trickling water was reflected with the brightness of the moon
The sun disappeared and another life had begun
Chasing life, our spirits wandered together into the night
