a little girl lies crying
upon a bed of dirt
around her she hears moaning
people dying all the time
We who always cry for ourselves
should be able to cry for these lost souls
surely we can find some way to help
instead of just letting them die
a little boy lays starving
knowing he is soon to die
6 years old, a child
ageless in his mind
you with the brand new car
you with millions of dollars
you with twenty houses
why can't you spare a dime?
a mother rocks her baby to sleep
as his screams echo through the house
his ribs are seen through drying skin
hiw mother knows he is starving to death
we sit here and do nothing
when we have money to spare
but when we see these people
we wonder why no one cares
a father mourns beside a grave
holding a baby by the hand
his wife died from a fatal disease
the same one her child now has
we all know that they suffer
we all know that they die
we know we could do something
and yet we just stand by
a person stands upon a hill
overlooking many graves
rows upon rows of markers
people who never had to die
we have the power to help these people
we have the money to spare
we have a few extra blankets
but i guess we just don't care

I loved this piece, really I did. THe reality of this is so real, I generally perfer poems that hit close to home with me, but this is well written with such a good message that i can't help but to love it.
Thank you so much for entering!!

A very thought provoking poem, highlighting the distance of the classes.. Not just heavyly laden from humanity's point of view, but also politically and socially.
Excellently crafted to perfection..
Beautifull, yet...
Love
