Hush, my babe,
No need for weeping.
Close your eyes,
Please do not cry.
You are safe in mother's keeping:
Sleep and heed this lullaby.
Fragile and helpless,
Precious as gold.
Here you are sheltered,
Kept from the cold.
Soon, my babe,
You'll grow and leave me,
Seek your fortune on your own.
Though the thought does often grieve me
This a mother's always known.
But, for now,
Sleep tight my baby
Don't cry now.
Author notes
Good luck with your pregnancy, and I would be honored if you chose my poem for your nursery. Again, good luck and be healthy!

Hi, ever been in choir? Perhaps you've used a book called Essential Repertoire for the Young Choir.
Funnily enough, your poem is printed in it word for word, along with accompanying piano music.
Perhaps you'd like to offer up an explanation? -
