Water

Are you lost?
Does every turn seem the same?
Do you feel more worthless,
At each step you take?

Well the answers easy
Just stop everything
Don’t walk, breathe, or move at all
Just stop everything

(Music begins, steady rhythm of drums [drum kit and bongos], keyboard, bass, and guitar.)

Just a little bit longer
Just a little bit longer
Just a little bit longer
Before it’s all over

Endure the pain
To end the pain
Cheat your way
To win the game

Endure the pain
To end the pain
Pain isn’t your friend
Until the end

Endure the pain
To end the pain
Make it rain
Make it rain

Cleanse us oh Father
Give unto us your water
That we may drown our sorrows
Don’t let us wait much longer

(Music, esp. drums for rhythm is faster as everyone as one chants and plays faster and faster)

We’re waiting
We’re waiting
We’re waiting here Father

Make it rain
Make it rain
Make it rain on us Father

We’re waiting
We’re waiting
We’re waiting here Father

Make it rain
Make it rain
Make it rain on us Father

(Music stops, then drums enters and carries on beat slowly, with the following words matching tempo)

Just a little bit longer
Just a little bit longer
Just a little bit longer
Before it’s all over

Just a little bit longer

Author notes

Some parts are meant as chants(the parts that repeat) like in a ritual with a shaman joined by his villagers. The rest is spoken in shamanic trance. The whole piece would be accompanied by music and in parentheses it will detail the speed of the music)

Very interesting.... I don't know very much about the indian culture, so thank you for the author's note, it helps alot to understand the poem. I love the opening verses, and then how it goes into a prayer. Thank you for the entry in my contest.
