Mama

It's a while since I dreamed of my mother,
Though she is always under my thoughts,
In my fabric.
She left me long before she left the world,
Brain cells slipping slowly into the void,
Seeing a stranger instead of her child.
Despite this, she was a sweet woman,
Invariably kind,
Yet with the usual human imperfections.
As she was loving, so was she loved.
I am who I am because she was my anchor,
I try to give to others what she gave to me,
Her tolerance, her spirit, her generosity.
I keep her image in my heart
And carry her genes with pride,
Forever wishing she was here with me.

This is truly beautiful. Pardon me for asking but did she have alhemer'z disease. You said she saw you as a stranger rather then a son. My grandma and great grandma both had Alhemer's and I'm scared my mom will it's very scary to see someone you love and know and their eyes look cold and confused when they see you. you've touched me and made me miss my mom even more she lives so far and you don't know just how important mothers are untill they are gone. Only then can you understand all the things they've told you since you were a child.
