Mummy's promise

hey poppet
won't you come sit next to me,
I have some information
I want to give so tenderly

There are parts of your body
that are private~just for you
no one else should touch them
or tell you what to do,

your body is your property
and no one else can say
what is OK to do to you
no matter what they say.

There are no things as secrets
that make you feel real scared inside
if anybody tells you so
remember to confide

your life is filled with happiness
your heart is filled with love
if anything should make that hard
these things you must speak of.

Child you are so precious
I want to keep you safe and well
there is nothing that you cannot say
secrets you cannot tell

I will never walk away from you
I will believe each word you say
I know you wouldn't lie to me
I promise to keep you safe.

This is a wonderful poem that explains very carefully that children should tell what is happening to them, you have done it in a really loving way that would suit a younger child perfectly as it would not frighten them. I have no critiscism of this poem as it is truly wonderful and certainly deserved the trophy, however in the final line of the fourth stanza you use the word confide which most children of 3-8 would not understand, perhaps you could review that? Best wishes and once again congratulations K
