I curse the prince who took you for that ride
and left you there, made no attempt to save
My heart beats on; but, you are not inside
I swallow hard to stem the rising tide
As rage envelopes me wave after wave
I curse the prince who took you for that ride
Ignoring how you lay broken and cried
he ran away to save his hide, the knave
My heart beats on; but, you are not inside
And how is it this evil butcher pried
The vow which you so eloquently gave
I curse the prince who took you for that ride
E'en though the cursed prince coerced and lied
You still were left the option to behave
My heart beats on; but, you are not inside
Forevermore my love will be denied
as you lie beyond reach within the grave
I curse the prince who took you for that ride
My heart beats on; but, you are not inside

i feel like i've read this before. maybe when you first entered it. i really really like this piece. it so sad... and angry at the same time. like the person the speaker is referring too had been maybe cheating on the speaker, and then they got into an accident and she died... and the speaker is left with this angry sorrow, because it hruts that they were being cheated on... thats what i grasped from it.
beautiful. sad.
thanks for your entry and good luck in the contest

Ooooo... nice
Wow! This is great! A perfect Villanelle with a wonderful flow and image. The inspiration for this poem surly came from the dark crevasses of a deranged mind. Well done, I feel sorry for that prince.
Love,
Amera
