All I Can Do

Fiery eyes dim quickly
When heartache comes in by force
She was soft and delicate
So his rough edges added spunk (until he went overboard and hurt her…)

I fell in love with him because of his problems
Not because he had them, but because he dealt with them
Like a man
I never thought he could turn around and smack me
(So hard my head felt as if it were made of tissue paper
And his words were a rock)

I was use to slow songs, make out sessions and
Small talk… (Laughter, giggles and flirting)
I didn’t know what to do when everything
Fell upside down around him

All I knew
Was how to hold on…
And he let go…

It hurt like hell. (First and foremost)
Then the ache turned slightly lighter….but it never truly went away

So now, after all that’s happened
We are here…and I just hope nothing…
Breaks him down again…because I don’t know
How to fix things like that
