You bore my sin to Calvary.
When burdens enslave me,
Your mercy sets me free.
For You bore my sin to Calvary.
Chorus
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy washes me.
2) You suffered on a tree for me.
You suffered on a tree for me.
When stain of sin shames me,
Your blood washes me clean.
For You suffered on a tree for me.
Chorus
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy washes me.
3) You rose in glory from the grave.
You rose in glory from the grave.
You pushed sin’s stone away,
My heart and soul You saved.
When You rose in glory from the grave.
Chorus
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy washes me.
4) A home waits in Heaven for me.
A home waits in Heaven for me.
I’ll praise on bended knee
Your glorious victory.
A home waits in Heaven for me.
Chorus
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy
A shower of mercy washes me.
Author notes
Written with love and gratitude to my Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, with inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
This is actually an older song lyric. It was the first song lyric I wrote, and one of my very first Christian poems. I have since revised it a bit. It was truly an inspired write, an amazing experience to be used that way. This write was the beginning of my current poetic journey.
It has been sung twice at Palm Sunday liturgies, as background to a silent enactment of the passion for families with young children.

A very lovely psalm-like song of praise that you have penned here, and even though I am not a Christian, I fully respect your right to your beliefs, and admire the heart and soul you put into your inspired poem. Best of luck in my contest, and thanks for entering.

A very beautiful song and well written. I like the theme of salvation. As in redemption Christ delivered us from the curse of mosaic law. He propiatiated himself as a sacrificial and substitutionary offering. I like your use of the word mercy which justifies righteousness and relationship restored on the cross. God has shown great mercy and patience over the history of time. The attitude of being willing to forgive (or even being willing to be made willing) comes from the cross itself i believe, where a Man like us died for our own forgiveness.. A great gesture and a new consciousnes of love took place. Blessings.
