Ruby reds

I thought of you today
a wish floating from the cracks in my heart.
Slivers of silver moonlight
carve through the darkness.
Reflected remnants of a cool blue sun
covered in wintery snows.
As your footfalls fade into the nestling silence.
Our garden has become a plain of dust
and my tears salt the earth.

I thought of you today
A wish in ruby red slippers
fading on a tarnished yellow brick road.
They were just tail lights
Gone now,
around the bend.

I clicked on your poem because I used to have a horse called Circle of Wolves.
As to the poem, if I had known it was free verse I wouldn't have clicked because I hate it with a passion.
I'm therefore the last person to give an opinion.
Sorry for clicking and wasting your points.
    Robin.

    Aww...

Is this based on a true experience? If it is, then I'm sorry. If it's not, then whatever. Either way, it was a very well-written poem. LOVED the Wizard of Oz references. Can't wait to read more of your work!
