Her Loving Carress

Let us remember humbly,

the one by and through whom we exist;

she is the oceans and deserts,

scent of musky soil-nurturer of every root and living creature;

dark of the night and light at daybreak, the Mother,

loving carress of zephyr wind

and  song of the nightingale;

her womb shelters spring green under winter white snow;

she lives in poetry and percussion;

from beginning of time and holding hope of our future;

source and the light and a tear falling gently,

witnessing her own death and destruction.

Shelter her, as she has done for us

[for she holds  secrets in the language of ancient]

hear her speak-don't silence the reverend Mother of all;

lay down beside her and just listen in silence.

    I'm adding this and the distant skies poem to my list of possibilities.

    BTW love your avatar. It reminds me of Prof. McGonagall in Harry Potter... haha

    *hugs*

      an important message;<------is what you say. I so wish that more would take it to heart. Upstate here a lot of new fancy housing developments have gone up in what is a very mountainous area and harbored a variety of wildlife. Now the residents want something done about the occasional black bear that forages through their garbage. It seems to be it is them [the people that have taken his area away from him] Sooooo sad

    a beautiful poem

    humility, gratitude, love are the touchstones here of a reverent poem urging greater appreciation for the earth that we share... an undivided earth...lines on a map do not prevent the harms to our living space from everyone's experience. Beautifully written and expressive, an important message; very well done, best of luck in Carol's contest...PK

    "...[for she holds the secrets in the language of ancient]..."

    as this poem does.....absolutely beautiful in its descriptions and sense of dignity and dearness.

    I have only one bit to say, that you might consider...

    I have been overly conscious of "the" used in free verse... I truly feel that the piece would be more adamantly beautiful with them.

    Just beautifully describe dear poetess, such softness in the beauty of all that surrounds us and how we should truly represent her and keep her safe. Love, C

    Beautiful

    This brought me to tears. What an amazing work. These lines: "loving carress of the zephyr wind
    and the song of the nightingale;"

    and these: "the beginning of time and the hope of our future;
    the source and the light and the tear that falls gently"

    Simply beautiful. What a pleasure to read this morning. Wonderful work and such a splendid entry for this contest. ~Pamela
