John the Baptist
W. Peter Sanci April 27 / 2007
You have all heard of a very special man,
His name was John the Baptist.
He was to prepare the way for a certain other
young man, who was to come after him.
The Pharisee and the Scribes were looking
for a way to silence him. Because he was
speaking out against the King. ( Herod ! )
John was Jesus’ first cousin. I’ll bet you didn’t
know that.
His mother and the Virgin Mary were 1st cousins.
Then John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River.
Then he completed his mission for God .
Herod had him arrested and thrown in prison.
Well, even in prison, John spoke out against
Herod, who was sleeping with his brother’s
Wife, ( And who says the Bible is boring ! )
Herod had to find a way to silence John.
So at a lavish feast he gave for some friends,
His stepdaughter was asked to dance.
When she finished Herod asked her what he
could give her.
Her mother said for her to ask for the head
Of John the Baptist on a silver platter.
Which is exactly what he did.
And so my friend’s when John baptized Jesus
In the River Jordan his time of ministry was
over, and it was Jesus’ time just beginning.
You see my friends that’s how it is in God’s
World.
He closes one door and immediately opens
another one.
So the next time you think of John the Baptist
Author notes
I have always liked the story of John the Baptist. Because the end of his minisrtry is the beginning of Jesus' Ministry.
