Terror In Darfur

Crimson tears slide
down ashen face
as flesh is ripped
and bruised;

cries have fallen on deaf ears
leaving blood curdling screams
to rattle bones;

unthinkable terror
beyond comprehension
and human understanding
are breaths of reality,
allowing demons to wrap
their evil wings around
throats of hope;

taking the last breath
as children are ripped
out of the arms of mothers,
while they are raped
and left for dead;

beyond thick black suffocation
lies hope and prayer
for tortured souls,
breathing light of mercy
into darkness;

Lord hear the desperate pleas,
give them the freedom that
we take for granted;

embrace these precious souls
allow them to rest in
your graceful bosom

Author notes

This is such an awful and inhumane act that these people are putting on the poor and helpless souls of Darfur. God be with them.

    There are people in the world that see all of this and believe there is no God. It is nice to see someone know that beyond the pain there is a prince of peace. Nicely written. May all who read this find a reason to pray for someone other than themself. God Bless...

    "LORD, we ask that you help these people, that you hear the pleas that are torn from ripped throats, that are beaten from raped bodies, that are cried to you. LORD, I ask that you hear the crying of these people, and help others help them. Give us all the strength to make a change, and give them the relief they need. LORD, take them home to a Heaven without pain, without suffering. They need You."
    My prayer group had come up with this prayer for the people of Darfur who are being terrorized, raped, tortured, murdered, harassed, beaten, torn, and having other inhumane cruelties and tortures applied to them. I thank you for your entry in this contest. Hopefully, if everyone who feels strongly against the genocide bands together, hopefully we can make the change so desperately needed. Thank you for your entry in this contest. We need more people to know about this. We need to make the horrible situation in Darfur appear more in peoples' minds. Hopefully, with this contest, a small handful more of people worldwide will have more knowledge to know this.

    Thank you.

    God Bless.

    Thank you for entering (even though I'm not the host, I still appreciate it-sad when you only have three entries in such a contest). I did expect more from you poetically, but I can't resist giving you full marks from my side because you've got a huge heart (it seems).

    I stand with you and kneel in prayer that the atrocities will come to a screeching halt soon.

    "Beyond the thick black suffocation
    Lies hope and prayer for these tortured souls
    Faith is all these people have to hold on to
    Dear Lord hear the cries of the people
    Wrap them in your loving arms and give them the
    Freedom that they desperately need to survive"

    I humble myself to the power of an Almighty God that can, will, and has delivered. Your prayers are reaching the Heavens as we speak. Beautiful!

    Thank you so much for your contribution to the efforts of this challenge. I wish you well in all things and pray for the best.

    God works through people. The people need to make your prayer a reality through a cohesive network of deeds such as this. Excellent!

    Much Love ♥

    Such a powerful prayer; we can all join together and recite this outloud as we read it together and God will hear. Great entry into this contest.
