My people, we people.
We have lived on the edge of your world.
We have lived beneath the open air,
and beneath the rain of your open fire.
We are the people of the earth,
our lives intertwined with the words of the trees.
We listen closely to what our brothers say,
within us there is peace.
But with your ships and guns you have brought-
the evil of man, your hate.
You have killed my people, my children-
you have left nothing untouched in your path.
We people, we do not wish to fight.
There is peace to be had, but you do not want it.
You prefer the pain, blood spilling on the ground.
The dark stain of anger.
You cry the word ‘Savages’ when you see us,
your women and children cower in fear.
Our people have done nothing wrong,
we defended what we call our own.
I know, now, that you do not care for this place.
That the Great Spirit has not touched you-
that you have never heard the rivers song.
That you will never know the ancient love.
Our ancestors before us lived freely,
and now we live in shame.
We are secluded off to a part of your world.
We people, we are your shadows.

I'll say the negative first..I don't care for the title..I don't have a good suggestion, either, sorry.
Ok, that's over with. On a more positive note, I think this is very well written. Very straight forward language which, I feel, suits the strong message.
I applaud for pulling no punches with the truth.

Very well done! You are absolutely right! What are people doing? Have they all lost their minds? You have penned a powerful piece here and I agree; we really need to go back to the ways of the native American.
Love,
Amera
I’ll have my people talk to your people!
