The Worth of a Person . .

I feel that the worth of a person
Is really instilled into them as they grow . .
As they are schooled from birth . .

They acquire goodness
Which is the base of thought
Which becomes encased
in a holy conscience . .
That safeguards them through life
And their conscience is really
An element of their God

What part does religion play in this
Well . . religions are man made . .
Therefore religions are man influenced
Many have good elements and intentions
But most work towards there own ends . .
So we become seriously influenced
As we sympathize with or pander to . . religion

But if truth be known . . .
Ultimately it is the God in you . .
To whom you must be beholden
And ultimately responsible to

As eloquently pointed out by Sandburg . .
All false Gods are well and truly equal
Yes - Equally false . .
Be they big or small,
Valued or base material . .
Or just figments of the imitation . .
Banded about by poets and philosophers
Yes they are all equally . . false . .

None of them can grant wishes
Or answer prayers better than another
None have a better assurance . .
Of keeping you safe from harms way
Big or small idols – are just . . idols
Even though they can be coveted . .
As artifacts,  relics, or antique works of art

So believe me when I say
The one true God . . and Church
Is not much larger than a coconut . .
And rests on your shoulders
And is with you always . .
Throughout your conscious day

Though outwardly small. .its interior is limitless
Far beyond comprehension . .
All you need do to see the vastness of space . .
Or even vision of your God . . is to close your eyes
And everything your true God can give you
Will come to you through the velvet blackness

Yes . . your one true God is always at hand.
And you are your Gods example and representative
What of religions . . well I suppose they are really . .
For those that go in search of . .
Other peoples historic and spiritual . .
Interpretations of God
And they can be an excellent support
But your true God and salvation
Lays within yourself
