Don't Be Mean To The Green

They provide for us the very air we breathe
By cleaning the wastes we pour in to it
The once green and growing things
That now adorn your plate
Rabbit-like, chew away tender bloom of life
Then frown on me for the steak on my plate
Product of another animal that dines on greens
Whose flatulent wastes tear holes in our sky
Greater act against the air we breathe
I do my best to encourage their slaughter
Reduce the risk by keeping numbers at bay
Producing Jobs in the making of wonderful sauces
And such
I help us ALL to flourish, and help us all as best I can
Seeing the slaughtered flesh is not simply left to rot
They and their fowl and swinish brethren
I give a worth to their eco-unfriendly existance
Succulent, my pride at being rid of them!
Our very air depends on it
And those things such as lie upon your plate
I beg you reconsider
Save our plant life, eat more meat

Author notes

I sat down, first time in a long while, and relaxed. (far longer) Four or five good breaths later, this started writing itself. I've been 'running' too long. This piece attacked me, I'm still giggling. Nice "release valve", I think.

Please tell me what you think

Glad to see you are back and 'relaxing' some. I can understand your amusing thoughts on this (due to the head injuries, maybe?....lol). Anyways, nice rebuttal to the flesh-eating cannibals from the nature, sun-seeking greens!

    I like it
At some points in your poem it isn't quite clear if you're being sarcastic or really trying to make a statement Which is a good thing, nothing has to be crystal clear from the first glance.
It's also original and it has your typical style of writing connected to it.

Good job, hope to read more from you soon

To give fuller answer to your comment, some people who don't eat meat try to get you to understand and convert to their cause. They can be very serious and explain it carefullly to you. How could I not be just as serious in my rebuttal? Why the idead struck me I will never know, but I had to be earnest in reply or not even bother trying to rebut. See? Okay.

      I JUST posted it!!!

It was all in fun. But, thought of "kill a cow" in a different light and changed it to "eat more meat". Still, it was just a litlle fun time for the old brain. Only kidding around.
