Silence comes at last for all
But for many too soon
I had to wonder as I looked at the sea of tears
what are they thinking of losing one of their peers
and all they may be thinking is why
No one will know as he is gone
I had to think how many more would do the same
I watched as they processed to communion with fears
I saw my wife weep and muffle her pain
I watched as "her kids" all did the same
One such child embraced her,
she held on with dear life
I can see her thoughts, "please, not this one too"
A soul was touched today
in the parting of this child
