Hooked

Missing image
Love's fog veiling the soul
till all the eyes can see
is the vision of a missing partner's face.

Solitude
feels like a desert island
surrounded by a sea of sadness.

World grows silent
except for the sound
from that angel's absent voice.

Baiting one's desires
on a hook of hope
to fish for memories
praying some passion's tuna
will devour the ache
and allow the spirit
a feast upon the catch,
ever dreaming it will satisfy
until that hand one's needs
returns to heal and hug
all the sands of sorrow
where a longing heart's sailboat
was shipwrecked
by the hurricane's of fate and time.

Aw, for me, this just screams of a melancholic feeling. I like how you were able to give imagery and emotion, without going to the extremes of either; both are perfectly prominent in the piece.
The paradox in the second stanza, between the juxtaposition of sand and sea, is really amazing.
You put the illustration into words exquisitely; gave brilliant metaphors to the poem and I think, as well added to it with the last stanza via describing what the character is fishing for/hoping to catch.
The structure is very easy to read through and lines are nice and crisp; they have a very clean aesthetic.
The title is flawless, it perfectly incorporates the poem and the picture, together.
Overall, this is a great piece. It's somewhat simple without becoming mundane and I think it gives the exact meaning of what the picture was trying to represent. Best of luck in the contest.
