19 Coffee Central

Missing image
it's not just the sound
of coffee being pored
the grinding of dark beans
expresso spluttering -
it's the atmosphere of the place

soft music playing
over murmur of low voices
steady stream of new customers
with their to go paper containers -
as well,  those who visit at tables

aroma of gourmet flavors
that french vanilla
to open nostrils
hazlenut -
gets saliva glands working

an art to drinking coffee
enjoyment of a cup
no matter shape or colour
content that's important -
conversation too

    Excellant

Very well written, indeed. Reminds me of one, a friend of mine, and I wrote many years ago:

I've already commented on this terrific poem but I'm glad I revisited it. It was just as delightful to read the second time as it was the first time. Great vivid imagery. Write On!

I'm not a coffee drinker, but you capture the essence of those who enjoy the hot drink and it's many flavors. Vivid descriptives of the sight, sounds and smells that come from a coffee shop. Well crafted and a much enjoyed read.

Well, as a tea drinker myself, I wondered what I'd make of this poem but hey, you did it! You got me going ... (no mean feat!) and salivating at the thought of that "french vanilla" ... oh yeah! So, it worked! Good write XX

    hee hee

This was well penned and quite cute.

    I liked the line

    "an art to drinking coffee
    enjoyment of a cup"

Of course there is also an art to taking $5 a cup out of your pocket and making you think it's a good deal for you!

I enjoyed this. God bless you, Mark

I LOVE being in a coffee house! The smells are absolutely wonderful!! I'm a coffee-holic I must confess.. One of my most favored things to do is get a good cup of coffee and go sit outside in my backyard... I have a little table out there and I find it just so peaceful and relaxing!

This is wonderful writing!!! I've missed all my 'circle of friends' poets!

    soft music playing
    over murmur of low voices
    steady stream of new customers
with their to go paper containers -
as well, those who visit at tables

That is it! Luckily I'm at work, and not somewhere nice like your poem. I would never get to work! Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem!

Good ambiance and I like that you focused on the aspect of conversation as these two little cups look like lovebirds, snuggling up to share a secret this morning. I also like how the word content seems to have a double meaning here. I didn't really notice this picture -- what a cute one! Thanks for bringing it to my attention by entering the Xperiment.

    rich

i personally love poems about coffee. This one captures the ambience of a coffee shop nicely; i can just smell the rich aromas now.

One line i had a question about was the last line of the stanza
    "soft music playing
    over murmur of low voices
    steady stream of new customers
with their to go paper containers -
    those who visit at tables"

I wasn't sure if you were reffering to the same group of people in the 3rd line, or if these were different. You might consider losing the hyphen and replace it with either a comma followed by an "and," or a semicolon and adding another line. Regardless, you may just want to look at that.

    Cheers.

Ah Java...the must have morning pick me up. But the conversation and hustle bustle surrounding it in your local coffee shops is a wonderful thing to encounter as well. One can learn alot about another over a cup of coffee. Smooth write here very enjoyable to read as is all of your pieces

I am sitting with you in this coffee house enjoying the sights, smells and conversation. One of the reasons we are willing to pay so much for a gourmet cup of coffee is the total experience of the senses. Well written. Peace. Liz
