I hate the way really old people's eyes
Start watering at the slightest thing.
It makes me feel so helpless
When there's nothing I can do
Because, as much as I would desire to know
Everyone in the world ever,
I can't,
So I can't help anyone,
I can't even help myself
See old people, they know how to smile,
Even when their sad,
They can still smile!
I'm going to be a crappy old person,
Been crying for so long now
Maybe I've forgotten how to smile
My mouth can go through the motions
But my eyes can't quite seem get there
Without eyes a smile is just a beached rainbow
That's got a bit lost.
You tell me I'm already lost
I think I've got to agree
And the tears just keep coming
Unitl I can't even sleep my eyes are that sore
But they won't stop.
It's this little secret, scrunched up inside me
And it's got lodged and won't move
But I don't want to let go of it
Because that would mean handing you over to them,
Even if the tears stop appearing
Falling on my life and smudging it all senseless
You wouldn' just be mine,
Maybe that's just selfish
But that's the way love is.
