Eloquence in a New Century
What has happened to our world?
The days of language are gone
In seas of jargon we’ve swirled
How can eloquence go on?
Less than a century has past
Since Byron, Tennyson, Millay
Have we lost this noble caste?
In exchange for vulgar play?
Where are the words that lifted souls?
That steeled the heart and steadied the eye
Beautiful words that made men whole
That brought on tears and forced a sigh?
Have love and valor been replaced by sin?
What must we do to get them back again?
What has happened to our world?
The days of language are gone
In seas of jargon we’ve swirled
How can eloquence go on?
Less than a century has past
Since Byron, Tennyson, Millay
Have we lost this noble caste?
In exchange for vulgar play?
Where are the words that lifted souls?
That steeled the heart and steadied the eye
Beautiful words that made men whole
That brought on tears and forced a sigh?
Have love and valor been replaced by sin?
What must we do to get them back again?

Please tell me what you think

I really really like this write. But I would like to say yes days have most certainly changed. We have seeminly progressed in some areas while digressing in others. In these days though the language and subject matter has changed because times have changed. I have always been drawn to days of the past as well. Women seem to have been so eloquent and classy back in the day!
A wonderful write indeed! Peace and love
