This conflict that tears us apart
Is it necessary i say
No its not
We're fighting a war just to fight
A war we've lost already
Why cant you all open your eyes
Take a look around
See the damage being done
Why no one can see
The hate that divides us
Could be love that unites us
Why must we label them the bad guys
Why are we always good
Aren't we ever wrong
Is this our society
One where everyone is right
But everyone is wrong
What a contradiction
How simple it is
That we the people
Cannot govern ourselves
We fear the ''enemy''
We never realize
That we are the ''enemy''
The one we fear so much
To much hatred and violence
Lets not let the love die
Remember days past when we were one
A world not divided
A country held strong
We need to pick up the pieces
Start this over again
Be the America we once were
The proud
The beautiful
The gracious sky
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountains Majesty
Let freedom ring

Good poem
Couldn't agree more an excellent poem and well said
The best way to support the troops is to demand that
they be brought home to their loved ones. And an end to
lie supported agression using illegal weapons. George -
i dont support the war..but i do support my fellow brother and sisters..
i do agree we need to go back to the ideals of the country..
good luck in my contest

Very nicely done!!!
I like your tone, calm yet loud.

America is the land of the free. Let it be a land of the responsible too.

I feel this contains a lot of common sense. Sadly the USA seems to be a society with inbred violence; perhaps the "Frontier Spirit" is to blame; but the time for being gung ho is over. The so-called war on terror is a fight you cannot win. You must come to terms with reality.
-
I like the way you have written this, I do however disagree with some of what you have said, but other than that, a good write..
thank you for entering my contest and good luck.
peace and light always. -

well only thing i have to say is america is still the home of free speech for now, we are all entitled to our opinions and hopefully that wont change

good
thanks for entering
love the papa -
Beautiful! YES! THIS is why people should stand for the pledge, and hang a flag on their homes. Not for Bush, or American corporations, or all those politics and wars and stuff. We should respect the flag for what it TRULY means, the freedom, the will to do good! NOT all this corrupt business of greed and force. I am SO with you on this. Excellent poem, and excellent ending!
