on a mug of porcelain
Reload for the photographer
camera clue in the background
Usually neat as a pin
no sugar crystals astray
Did you catch your best shot
or raptured by aroma - did she get away?
Setting down her hat of khaki
tapping a painted nail on her hot cup
She’s been watching you too
and the Joe that you sup
Tailing the who, what or where trail
making a mark on thoughts and minds
an offering to the rag using a snap or a pen
filtered not censured are the expresso's daily grinds

Ah, I loved this cup with its coffeebean flower. Good choice! I loved the feeling you evoked in this poem of a missed opportunity -- reminds me of my coffee days in NYC where it was indeed a good way to meet someone, hanging out at the Hungarian Pastry Shop near Columbia or at Cafe Reggio in the Village Of course, when you're young, anywhere will suffice, but cáfes were my pied a terre. Ooo... that third stanza in particular is yummy. I think I might be tempted to change l. 8 to "did she get away?" The last stanza is also quirky. This one is growing on me by the second. Thanks so much for coming to the cafeXperiment and please fill up another cup if you have a chance.

I made a few changes!
Took your advice on the "did she get away?"
Then changed the whole last verse.
(flips hand from side to side) Still not happy with it!

Any more ideas? -

I actually liked the way the last stanza was -- "quirky" is a good thing with me. Do you still have it? Maybe you could post it in your author's notes for comparison.
Not sure about "Rest for the photographer
camera clue in the background" I understand it as it relates to the photo but maybe play around with this a little more. By the way, carcrashhumor was able to link directly to her photo. If you use her link you can get to yours by hitting previous and then post the exact picture link here. -
