Water presses in around me
Suspending my lank hair in wisps
My hollow breathing echoes
--a part of Ocean's pulse.
Powerful, smooth, gliding
O'er bluish cast concrete brains
Coral castles, majestic, proud
Shelter shining fish
That dart 'tween coral crags
Conglomerate rainbow shelter.
I, an outsider, can not fit in.
The current lures me deeper.
Bottom feeders, mottled beige
Sweep 'crost sand on stomachs
A lair apart, a life beneath
Creating crude zen gardens.
My air reserve bursts out
Released through a fine bubble stream
Forcing me to surface
Return to a world less sacramental
--sea fans tremble, waving good-bye.
Author notes
So if there's confusion about how the narrator breathes and then needs to surface... It's about snorkeling so the first part she was pretty much at the surface, and after being "lure[d] deeper," she dove down.

A visually stunning piece you have here. Although I myself have never snorkeled, you've brought it to life for me. I could feel the water all around me and see the beautiful colors beneath. beautifully written! Hugs Kelly

Fantastic!
I love to snorkel. It's so calming and peaceful. (if your mask fits correctly)
Nice job of describing the feelings and scenes.
You did it justice.
Thanks.
