The north wind blows.
Oh tell me cold wind, what news do you have of my love?
Does he come for me, to take me away north with him?
The north wind replies
Nay fair maiden, he comes not from the north
To take thee away.
The south wind blows.
Oh tell me strong wind, what news from my love
Does he summon me to join him?
And live with him down south?
The south wind replies
Nay dear child, he comes not from the south
To take thee away.
The west wind blows.
Oh tell me genteel wind
What news do you have of my valiant prince?
Does he send a messenger to fetch me?
And bring me to his palace
Where we'll live happily ever after?
The west wind replies
Nay sweet princess
He sends no messenger
To take thee away.
The east wind blows.
Oh tell me bighting wind
What news do you have from my love?
Who has been gone for such a long time?
What news do you have?
The east wind answers not
But carries the cries of a maiden
Longing for her love
To take her away.

You have a simple way of making alliteration work so well...simple in that I mean it is so worked in that it is not forced at all...it is seductive. ty so much for your entry.

I just looked at the picture and your poem fits it exactly. I'm well impressed with this; I love the language and the way it's been so well thought out. I was enthralled all the way through and wondering about the outcome. You've written a worthy rendering of a beautiful picture!
