Eternal Embrace

Lay with me?
Until the end of time...
I could not bear this moment
To end.

Now that the cancer has
Overtaken my bones
I fear you might
Find someone else
To take my place

I can't leave without you
My love
My truest breath of fresh air

Take this body to the dirt
And I'll pray
And hope beyond reason
You'll lay to rest with me

You'll sing that song
That sets me free...

Author notes

when my uncle died, he died in his wife's arms
this picture reminded me of that

i could not think of a better way to go.

aye, if you have to die, which we all do i suppose, it would be good to die in the arms of the one we love most - so many die alone so this time death smiled a small mercy, a good poem

happy birthday, hope it is a good day and night

Your poem has true meaning, and it's something personal to you. It's beautifully written and full of the loving emotion.

I'd just like to suggest that you take a quick look over your grammar/spelling, and then your poem will be closer to superb.
