Nothing Remains

I loved you once before
Now it's gone
Nothing
Just the emptiness remains.

I befriended you once before
Now its gone
Nothing
Just an indifference remains.

I held you once before
Now its gone
Nothing
Just a bare embrace remains.

I trusted you once before
Now its gone
Nothing
Just the memory remains.

Please tell me what you think

sad, but i know where you are coming from. i let people in and all they do is mess with my stuff and leave me with a mess to clean up my self. i am not mad at those people, though. i like to think i was there when they needed me even if they could not be there for me. you write very well, i like how you repeated the word remains, it just gives the reader a sense of familiarity throught the entire peom. when i read this piece i am reminded of a baren waist land. every thing is all dried up and cant support any more life, however there is evidence of a once thriving population. it gives the sense of wonder amidst the emptyness. keep loving to write!
