Overrated

It seems I have trapped myself
In this over-dramatic, depression-filled
World of words and pessimism-
It is time I stepped out.

It is time I joined the real world,
Flashed a smile to the crowd and strutted,
High-headed,
Above my fickle, twisted heart.

I will listen to myself, this time.

Author notes

This is most definitely inspired by the poet suspect, who, along with giving me the most amazing critiques in the world, has made it his duty to remind me in every comment that I am, to him, emo.... or now, emo-lating. This is for you, sir. :-D

I can relate. For me, it happens without warning, and then I'm stuck in the funk. Your solution is noble and heartfelt, Kelsey. I like it!

Hahaha...I love the humor just popping from every line of this. It flows so well, too. And, after reading your author's note, I have to say it makes a lot more sense. Kudos, my dear, this is a good one and I give it three thumbs up (just don't ask where I snatched this extra one from ).

hehe, why thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I will assume the extra thumb was a gift from a close associate... there's no need to correct me.

Listen to the passionate firey illusions of desire. . .They make for a happier dillusion though, a less courteous dis-illusionment. . .How dost thy life Dame D'Kiwiville? Quod est? Why the depression, how could you possibly associate it with the written word? Remember, the written word allows you to say what you could perhaps not otherwise tactfully say with a sense of anonimity as to purpose and context as well, it allows you to get out what you need to, luv. How could THAT possibly by bad? I suppose it does get the taste of bitter, vitreous meladramaticism at moments, but really, aren't those just transitory when compared to the innumerable moments of spiritual and emotional ascention and freedom from the petty courtesies of the trivial world? Hmmm. . .Do NOT forsake your world of Expression, what other media, allows the expression both conscious AND UN-conscious of our deepest thoughts, hopes, dreams, urges and desires in such an apt format? By all means, "strut your stuff" as it were, but do not forget the far more tangible (to posterity) world of your written SOUL. How are you anyhow darling? Well, I hope. Get back to me on that.

    -Yours Truly as Always,
