Slipping quietly through murky water,
A beastly predator awaits his meal
For prey to stray close to him for slaughter,
Unawares of him the waters conceal.
His senses prepared on the full alert,
Sudden vibrations strike his scaly side,
He pivots his head with a movement curt
To see what is pulling up alongside.
Rolling glassy eye in the direction,
His body tremors to espy a sight.
Saliva running at this confection,
Jaws clenching to take a savory bite.
He sank his teeth into the small pontoon
Learning then it was not a huge raccoon.
Author notes
What? Would you rather hear me telling how he chewed up some cute little bunny?
