The Best Conversation [You Never Had]

i just wanted to let you know how black the sky is at two am
the clouds are covering the stars, and the moon forgot how to shine
i walk under the picture, and it's been too long exposed.

the rain...
it wants to fall, but hasn't forgiven its lover, the earth
is the one forsaken.

the earth could so comfort the rain
wrap it in its caring, warm embrace,
but the rain has forgotten how to fall.

the loneliness,
the emptiness,
of it all

reminds me of your eyes.

i just wanted to let you know that static covers the scene
the bomb exploding late at night on t.v.
taking place of the late-night talk shows
and burned-out t.v. hosts still crying for attention
but the light has moved on

the static...
it's like the aliens that crawl through your mind
that constant reminder of how sick you are, your mind
is the one forsaken.

the static fuzzes out the images
until all i see is grey
i look away from the smoke, the static, the mass destruction.
