Armageddon ? (Sodom & Tomorrow )

Armageddon ?
(Sodom & Tomorrow )

God once rid the world of Dinosaurs
So why not rid the world of . . man ?
The a situation seems quite ludicrous
Yet I feel the process just began

The humanoid may have run its course
The monkey reaching ultimate sophistication
This animal has become part of science fiction
And has long corrupted . . simple copulation

I ask you . . Why should any Omnipotent God
Empathize with the mutation of his creation ?
As it pursues a life of greed and selfishness . .
Ignoring vital compassion . . needed for salvation

Remember the Earth is not a unique star . .
It is just one of a trillion scattered specks
Many far beyond our vision . . or our reckoning
And God’s objectives are too complex

When there is so much unknown in space . .
Perhaps this planet is far from unique . .
God could have offspring’s or emissaries elsewhere
Where evolution is more pleasing and not so bleak

So will our Lord eventually purge this world ?
Will our misused hardware cause us to crash and fall ?
It is really down to mans own conscious and conclusions
And ultimately . . how he makes his call

The power of the Almighty is one that I fear. He destroyed the Earth in a flood, and then set in the Heavens a great rainbow and promised to never dismantle His creation with water again. I think fire is next but maybe God just has to stay sitting on His throne with arms folded, shaking his His head at the behavior of man and allow man to do the destroying for Him. I think we are doing a pretty good job of annihilating ourselves here Albert. Your poem is poignant and quite thought-provoking. I do believe our days are numbered either in individual death counts or the the pending end of it all. I also believe God is the only one that knows which way this Earth in its finite existence will come to its demise. Wonderful work here Albert, giving the reader much food for thought.

hm, I can see the same dynamic in this world continuing in past generations- the more powerful, disinterested man destroying the weaker, more feeling human being and then calling it 'God'. But I can never see a stage where the innocent win over the evil men. Hasn't happened yet, and can't see it ever happening.
