Hearts Aren't Meant to Break

Saying hearts were only meant to break,
Is as saying flowers were only meant to fade,
It's a shallow type of namesake,
For it's not why hearts were made.
A ship is safe in harbour,
But it's not why ships were built,
Within trees fall their arbour,
But this doesn't stop them making silk.

Saying hearts were only meant to break,
Is saying humans were only meant to die,
It's by far a cruel namesake,
Saying babies were only meant to cry.
A dress is pretty before it's worn,
But it's not why it was bought,
A child's knees are soft and warm,
But this doesn't stop them getting caught,(monkeys)

So saying hearts were only meant to break,
Is saying lives weren't even meant to live,
Breaking hearts may be what it takes,
For us to understand what it is we give,
As ships were meant to sail out on roughened seas,
And children, into adult leaders, will grow,
And trees are homes and shelters for more than bees,
Flowers are meant as part of love's show.

Author notes

I wrote this on my exam paper as I was waiting for the exam to be finished. It's not great, but I was struck by inspiration, as a friend had told me not to really hope(for something to happen), so I'm proud of it.

It was written during my literature exam though lol. Hehe.
