Boys on battlefield, raising their last arm,
want to be saved
or recognized, as heroes
“Look,”
says limb,
making second target easier.
Make-up, a little too dark,
a lot too thick,
still sighs its sorrow
“See,”
says bruise on asymmetrical face
eyes avert possibility
of being pulled in.
Tribes, way before today,
call to Knights of Columbus
“Hear,”
what you can of your hero
but all ears were stopped
in the name of silencing omissions
in name of colonization
in name of He who should
have looked and heard

Welcome to Omission!
An interesting article in your author's notes, which I can agree with since I am a historian of Native Americans. Yes, colonization, right of possession, cultural extermation, the litany is one that will never be silenced. Because, they are still here among us. Heard today on reservations and lecture halls, 400 year memorials for Jamestown, but not with enough notice for their voices that remain to be heard. An excellent choice of interpretation for the word omission, and I thank you for your entry. Good luck in the contest.
