They say that a ribbon
(Supposedly red)
Is tied between pinkies
(I've heard that it's said)
Of two people destined,
Two hearts meant to love
Soul mates, of sorts,
True as blue skies above.
And if this is so,
(Which some people say)
I'll risk my poor heart
on open display.
This ribbon (don't worry,
I'll get to my point)
I hope is tied firmly
on my pinkie's joint
to run like a river
from my hand to yours.
You now know the secret
This scared heart endures.
That hidden emotion
This fearful girl hid
Was kept under wraps
'Till they were undid
By feelings too strong
To ever contain,
And burst out to fall
Like sweet summer rain.
Of course now I doubt
That telling you this
Would induce the effect
Of your long-desired kiss.
In fact, I now think
It may've been a mistake
Confessing my love
(Of which you don't partake)
Since I'm just a girl
(With no special appeal)
Who thinks you're so wondrous
It's almost unreal.
Ok, now it's settled,
(My face ribbon-red)
I've embarrassed myself.
I'd feel better off dead.
About ribbons and love-
Just forget what I said.
It's fixed by a face-palm
And kick to the head...
Author notes
this makes me laugh. this makes me cry.
The ribbon thing is a Japanese superstition/belief that you are connected to your true love by a red ribbon tied between your pinkies.
