Breathe

I climb onto my horse
a Roan Stallion, fifteen hands
his spirit rises as I do.
He is off in a canter
and around the barn door onto
the bridal path a loping gallop.

I sit my saddle well and move with him
leaning into a turn, then back
bending over his lurching neck to jump a fallen tree.

My black hat brim bends away from my eyes
I avoid a low branch. Smiling now,
man and horse in rhythm.

I can Breathe.

I am leaving
and I am not sad
Leaving in anger
brings regrets.

So I leave and keep my anger
in the soft sleep, curled in the corner
like a lazy cat on the window seat.

I need to Breathe.

And there she lay
on the bed near the window
and the window was near the hearth.
The undulating firelight
brought the curve of her hip to me.
I stood for a second
just to hold the perfect vision
for soon I would be near her
then closer still and entwined with her;

so new, I breathe her in...

Here's what horsepower can do for you. Some dreams are just too temptingly beautiful to not try to capture in poetical moods. Thank you for creating and sharing. Good luck in the contest. Take care,

LOL perhaps...I am afraid if I did, then one day the seat would get too full and the cat would turn into a tiger and someone could get hurt hehe

Just for a second a vision, I could breathe! Creative lines, touch of soft spoken tenderness. ~Sie

Sighhh...Ahhh...This is so beautifully penned...I love to ride...Horses are such lovely, intelligent creatures...But don't go, Poet Man...

    and there he stood
    in the whispering moonlight,
    watching me, wanting to recline
    into dreams beside me ~

    me wanting him
    to move in determined silence
    to my trembling side.

Sinuous ripples in his forearms danced
    as he reached for me,
    eyes luminous with flames
we would both be warmed by...
    I breathe him in...

See whatcha went & made me do??? Good luck in the contest, my Friend...

And horse and man are free to ride, free to love and find love again. The freedom and joy in this speaks volumes for how the man will search but yet is never tied to emotions who will drag him down. It flows beautifully and it makes me yearn to ride once more, alone in the mountains. Love, C
