When the butterfly emerges
From the safety of the cocoon
Does it have the faintest inkling
Of what the world has in store?
Through the azure sky, serenely
It floats upon gentle gust of wind
Its iridescent wings softly beating,
Passing through life without a care
Bathed in the warmth of bright sunlight
Attracted by the sweet laughter of a child
A beautiful creature approaches, unaware
To find the smiling faces of its executioners
Nets held high in their grimy hands
Unknowing children chase and swing
Confining something meant to be free
They hold too close, decimating beauty
Reaching out, the paw at it
Until wounds, inflicted by ignorance,
Weep tears of glistening silver
Staining their tiny hands
If only you had known, would you have stayed
Locked away within the safety of your cocoon
Or, ever knowing the price you would pay,
Shared your beauty with the world?

... you came up with all that just by inspiration of one word... *wide eyed with shock* i'm impressed. i love the stanzas:
When the butterfly emerges
From the safety of the cocoon
Does it have the faintest inkling
Of what the world has in store?
Through the azure sky, serenely
It floats upon gentle gust of wind
Its iridescent wings softly beating,
Passing through life without a care
but it was so sad...
this is an amazing write, it definitely deserves to win a trophy. well done and good luck -

Thanks
I really loved the idea of this one...idk, just did. Yeah, sad but it's kind of fitting to the way the world is now so, I think its just realistic you know? Thank you for reading and commenting.
