I love the abandoned hallways
so quiet, so devoid
of loud 'pleases' and chatters
Things I with my heart avoid.
What I wish, what I want;
wish with this heart I knew
Written in Times New Roman font
so many words, yet so clearly few
The red blood that drips,
this cloth that tears
the knife so sharp that rips
through an innocent mind that fears
So sweet, so red, the blood;
the white floor that floods.

I love those lines because, despite being a dark poem, this adds a contemporary spin on it and doesn't make it so raw with blood, gore, or dark emotion. Which can sometimes just completely scare the reader senseless. Nicely written & thank you for entering my contest. -
