In Higher Breath

Missing image
Oh! to hold my walking stick
in crooked straightness
craving stride to follow step
in trail of brighter angel climbing,

those severed cracks
of limestone walls
in narrow width of rim expanding,
as sleeker view of elusive touch.

I have felt you dream of kisses
inside my wish
of fevered adventure,

where trust is waking here without you,

knowing someplace else
you search your pebbled shore
in search of footprint
of sand to blast
my distant canyon.

So beautiful that dance
when dream is feather,

seeking sigh in sleeve
of shoulder
shining sun to eyes amazed,

as hope in voice
to sing forever,
a song to gather in grace together,

saving glance to give,
as shadow
in rolling soft with tandem cover,

as candle moves
in slivered sequins
across our future wall of wish,

in higher breath to worship now.

Author notes

'O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away'...Yeats

I agree with both comments below...this is beautiful and lovely ..and I will add,
come sunset, when the canyons fill with deep red shadows
even sars glitter with a glorious, "Welcome back!"
