Passion in a Book

To hold a book between my fingertips,

to flick the pages and read between lines.

Interpret or inspect the writers impressions,

determine my own within my own mind.

The beautiful words that I may read,

when delving into a philosophical book.

Likewise the humour I may come across,

fills me up with joy and laughter inside.

Romance novels that leave me in love,

that I may fall in love with a character.

Suspense that leaves me hanging high,

that I can't put the book down to sleep.

Fantasy that takes my mind far away,

in a place where magic is all too real.

Horror filled pages that keep me awake,

but leave me thrilled and alive again.

Many a book can leave a deep imprint,

into the mind of a devoted reader.

Read and analyze this poem I write,

about the world of a advanced mind.

This poem is very good, I like the flow and the rhyme didn't sound forced... I couldn't help thinking that it needs more imagery or a more exciting subject though... Thank you for entering my contest.

I'm so sorry, but I have to remove this poem from my contest, since it doesn't qualify. The rules said that entries couldn't have won gold before. I'm really sorry, especially since this piece was one of my favourites. I'm going to bookmark it so I can enjoy it myself!
