A Silence Away From Sanity

fear unfolds
underneath my skin of stone
where disease creeps
withering to wrinkles in time

mind seeking new visions
an escape to realism a wink away
yet finding the door
another new days challenge

screaming voices frolic
in my desperation
wishing for placidity
or just one melancholy minute

wasting away
nerves numbing from a toxic drink
of realities poisonous persistence
as the hour hand stops at 3 am

a revelation
where stillness now sets
upon my sordid mind
completely at peace

....I am forever...
..a silence away from sanity.

Author notes

Okay so I tried. I hope this is what the quote meant by "As a writer, words are your paint. Use all the colors."

    amazing

This is so real and the imagery is wonderful...
I love how you ended it:

    "a revelation
    where stillness now sets
    upon my sordid mind
    completely at peace

    ....I am forever...
    ..a silence away from sanity."

    WOW!

    Splendid

Brilliant line "a silence away from sanity" - how well that speaks to me and I am sure many others. It was dark, yet held food for thought. I like the brief sentences, lack of punctuation, and the stark aura of the poem. Very well done!!

You have done so well with this poem. I feel all the tension that comes with motherhood and being a wife. Those wee hours of the morning when all should be sleeping are taken by those little ones who wake up needing a hug of gentleness. It is a bit much at times. I feel you have done well at describing and painting well with your words in this poem. Great job honestly.
