What sort of Huguenauty poet are you?
For our current contest are you going to write?
Are you loyal, trusty, dinkum and true blue
or just like jellyfish and vegemite?
We see your poems appear in mixed contests
(a few of which, we think, verge on absurd)
but, for OUR latest (possibly our best),
you haven’t entered yet a single word.
What sort of Huguenaut, we ask, are you?
Have you no sentiment, no guilt, no shame?
When the Roll of Honour’s there for all to view,
will YOU be listed as a Knight or Dame?
Each entrant is entitled to a vote
so hurry please, or else you’ll miss the boat!

Give time dad, give time.
Australia is a huge country
we need time to praise it right
or the aussies might get cranky
I have an idea of what I want to write
just don't want to be in a hurry
Easier to write about sitting on a terrace drinking cocktails, or a haiku about bunnies and easter chocolates, then to put together wombats, aborigines and kangaroos

Novel, I liked it, not quite a masetrpiece. Good for a chuckel or two.

think this gets the message out quite well- write a poem or else? LOL Cute, easy to read and understand what you are saying here - all should stick together and support a fellow Aussie.
