Ask Me No More

Missing image

What is it you want from me
I have given you all that I have

A love that is pure with its passion
Served to you on a platter of devotion
Eyes that cry in your absence
the void being too much to bear

Becoming what you have wanted me to be
Losing myself in your creativity
Now searching for my former self
not knowing where I am

Attached to your longings and needs
Trying to fulfill that which you seek
Your happiness more prevalent than my own

You have been my everything
Your existence being a culmination of all my dreams
Caught up in your fantasies
Finding my dreams now becoming dark

You have become the great prevaricator
When questioned on  your intentions
I seek now only solitude……

Ask me no more……
I have nothing left to give

This condition is a monster...one so willing to love, and another hesitant, fearful, selfish, or lacking self-control. How do these situations incubate so easily? Sometimes there is duplicity, but other times I think people just believe they are capable of something which they have no capacity to give. Ideas of love and loving (and their lesser derivatives) appeal to some folks, but ultimately the hard work of relationship building and the occasional awkward periods of resettlement that must take place are too unsettling for them--they decide to quit, or worse, take what they can until the well runs dry.

For some a relationship is about what they will get from it, and for others it is about what they are willing to give. If the energy is always flowing in the same direction, then balance is lost and the instability leads to wreckage. I'm sorry your devotion was not returned...having been miserable myself, I can say I wish I had no company...it is too much for any soul to have to bear. Be blessed.

The question, methinks, is as old as the picture.....such sorrows shed ancient tears over a hesitant truth.

It seems like you have looked into my life, and pulled out this one situation without it being relived. I thank you so much for all the kind words and the true words of comfort...
