God! we fight ourselves so hard, don't we?
and hurts to know that we are -
we are all the things we hate to be
it seems to be in our blood,
the way we so often forget to love
if only we could somehow set the world free
Tonight, two floors above, I can hear the sound of screams
as two hearts crash against each other for no reason
and forget to care
all because of some foolish thing,
two hours late
with the children crying and dinner burning again
And this is the way we break when we aren't saved
from the fall
as the fight bears us down and we can barely walk
so we hate this
and we hate that we know we're wrong
yet we fight ourselves anyways because we can't seem to stop
What will it take to save these dieing hearts?
how can we save the world and all these dieing stars?
if the answer was on my lips I would speak
but this fight leaves me breathless
and I can't seem to see
Author notes
We fight the hardest and hurt the most those who we love.
And we hate that we know we were wrong, yet, somehow, we simply can't learn to stop.

That's so strong... tying a very strong problem in our society with a story that shows it so well... I would try to organize the 2nd to last paragraph and make it a bit more organized, but you still have a powerful piece of poetry here. Nice job!

Great write and very emotional! It makes you want to ask a very big why? Good luck in the contest!
