I've traveled so far,
and the night's unforgiving,
the concrete sucks the marrow
from my weary bones,
sweet Jesus, I'm calling,
please see me through,
I've walked a thousand miles
and I'm still too far from home
Your grays and your blacks,
keep me stagnate and pale,
and I just pray to a dead God,
that I can make through this trail
I've come so very far,
and I think I finally see light,
so distant, so pale
is it really in my sight?
Please, God, please,
let this be real,
no mirages today,
some false hope to embrace
I approach this dark hall
fearfully, hopefully,
and to my amazement I find
salvation is there
so subtle and sweet
and it's waiting for me
to come and eat
but I'm frightened,
can I go?
I must but I'm scared,
I go forward trepidatiously
and my find to my surprise
that my sins are eaten,
swallowed whole,
gone forever,
thank you, sweet Jesus, thank you!

"The concrete sucks the marrow from my weary bones"
My feet ache from just reading that! For me this phrase does not paint a picture, but it paints a feeling! I love it! -
