Knock Me Over

You don't have to knock me over,
on the floor I already lie.
Right where you had left me bleeding,
praying to God please let me die.

Battered, broken, will to live gone,
scars on both my body and soul.
Bitter my hatred felt for you,
it is the remains of your control.

My savior knocked upon the door,
said I have a place you can go.
Safe from his harm you will remain,
shelter upon you I will bestow.

My life I've taken back today
so that the healing can begin.
I'm finally pressing charges,
now it's time to pay for your sin.

Peg, Thank you so much for your touching words here. I'm very sorry that you know of it first hand, I have seen it and it's not a pretty sight. My biological father, God rest his soul was an alcoholic and abusive to my mom. Always when he would drink, otherwise he was such a loving soul. I still picture my older sisters pulling him off of my mom and I was too young to help. No spouse should ever have to go through this. I am happy that this could speak to you and I thank you for the best wishes. Love you my friend, Joyce

Judie, Thank you so much for the applauses and your lovely words. I'm happy it wasn't me either, I do feel for those it happens to however. Somehow the title we were given brought that out. It's amazing what these titles do to us and how we can all see something different in them. Thank you for the best wishes also. Love and God bless, Joyce

going, Thank you for the applauses and your lovely words of praise that are ever humbling me each time you come by. I'm glad I never had to experience this and I do feel for those who have and are still going through it. It's such a cowardice act committed upon others and it's good to know we have places to protect battered spouses and children. I'm very happy that this could speak to you. Love ya my friend, Joyce

Viyanna, Thank you for hosting and your lovely words. When given this title to work with I ended up leaning in that direction. I had seen your contest and thought it would be a good one for it. I know you wanted personal entries and I thank you again for allowing me to participate. It was good to get a message of hope out to battered women. Thank you for the best wishes also. Love and God bless, Joyce

Liz, Thank you for the lovely words you gave to me. This is where the title took me and I had seen this contest. I asked that I be allowed to participate because Viyanna was looking for personal experiences. It is good that there are shelters for battered women and their children if need be. It helps them to move in the right direction with positive reinforcement. Thank you for the best wishes also. Love ya my friend, Joyce
