Raw

I look upon the shining moon
And wish never again for the sun
Who never could shed light
upon this life we live.
Is this battle truly done?
They say it never ends within one's self,
But mine is coming to a close.
For I know who I am

And where I came from,
And that I could never lose.
With only one true friend to sit by my side,
The world is a lonely place.
But I know I can count on her,
For the past eleven years were great.
My books and stories are always there,
To take me away from this place.
And some say I depend on music too much
But is there such a thing?
For me life would be impossible
Without my headphones to hear
Those lines the bands always sing,

Talking in my ear.

So that is me unedited,
For everyone to see.
Because I would never edit my life,
For you nor him or me.
For I am what I am,

Life is what it is,
and the sun will always rise and set
Over the same line of identical houses

in this cloned country we call America

Author notes

I'm not quite sure about the title of the poem. I might change that later.. but it's early in the morning and my brain isn't that creative right now...

I like the sentiment of this one. We should all only try to be ourselves, and never feel the need to change ourselves. Thanks for the entry!
