You rock out to your headphones
as we sit in the old, run down trailer park
where you used to live
before we found those letters
you know, the ones about your dad
and you lean back into my arms
and tell me you'll never leave me
but your pretty words are all just smoke and glass
flying off into never never land through an orange sky
painted with lipstick shadows and windblown kisses
designed with you in mind
through yellowed papers and discarded bottles
and heaps of used people's trash
we found a novel, about blood and stuff
and read till our throats were sore
and our eyes were red
it hurts to watch you walk away
wrapped in my sweater as if it will protect you
protect you from the cold, dark world
waiting to drag you down
the piano music sings softly to me
showering down through my patched umbrella
as the rocking chair squeaks a rhythm to my softly beating heart
the cracks in the ceiling get bigger with every gasping inhale
every beat of my broken heart
you tore me apart with the power of your words
and the magnitude of your hate
the blue stones of the river
dig into my feet, tripping me
until I fall, crawling to the rhythm of your sweet music
and the sand still smells like bleach
from that time, you remember
when we tried to make our own tie-dye
I can almost feel your sweet touch,
caressing me apathetically
remembering a time when we were us
and you wore a daisy crown as the queen of my world
but now my heart beats only in the thumping of my speakers
your favorite song screaming out to me
the wagging, purple tongues of that one band,
you know, glaring at me from this photograph
that I clutch in my hand,
tear splattered roses make pretty scratch patterns
on your face, my dear
the devil has no horns
so fly, fly into your technicolor dream world
and leave me here with my pirated cable
and magazines about girly things
leave me with only the memory of your plum colored lips,
blowing kisses to my face
and wearing that necklace I bought you on 5th avenue
leave me now, with your fruit scented body spray
and your rainbow colored glasses
burnt to pieces by the battery acid
spilled from a paper cup
I mangled this poem for you
only because you stole my heart
strangled my hopes
and dashed off with some boy
who will never love you like I do
Author notes
I used all the word banks from a past contest to make one giant poem... I think it's interesting.
Please tell me what you think

Good stuff.
"Your rainbow colored glasses burnt to pieces by the battery acid..."
I wish I could say that the storyline wasn't familiar to me. I've known several variants of this unhappy theme. -
i agree. it is interesting
it has a clear && eonderful story line
i love it
its got a feel of dispair to it, but if you read deeper theres a really cute innocent love story
...at least thats what i see
i love this
